I found this super subject peering through a hedge at Nether Broughton. The only changes I’ve made to the original scene is to move the large tree to a position behind the barn which I felt gave a better compositional balance.
The surface is Sennelier rough cotton rag paper. I draw the scene in using a 3b pencil. Over the top in places I draw some fine ink lines using a Faber-Castel Pitt artist pen.
Next, I use indian ink and a brush, I paint in all the dark tones.
Next month I’ll be looking at painting a wintry sky using a limited palette.
